Physical Description
A girl with long brown hair, reaching down to her upper back. She has a pair of brown eyes that seems to be always filled with a burning determination to face whatever the universe may throw at her, whether they are challenges or her own misfortunes. An athletic girl but not built for physical activities or heavy lifting due to her average strength but makes up with her magical capabilities.
Personality Description
Kind, loyal and steadfast. Raizel is known for her unyielding will to push through the challenges that she may come across despite the odds against her. Often seen as a quiet girl at first, a bit standoffish which could give someone a bad impression but underneath that is a playful and adventurous person, always up to test the limits of her capabilities. Only those whom she had grown attached to and had formed a deep bond with can see this side of hers, reserved to those who she trusts and ones who will receive her loyalty. She is always ready to lend a hand when one needs it, a trait that she can’t seem to discard. Always wearing a smile or a grin on her face even when faced with trouble, a way for her to fight the fear building within just to overcome it and to hide her own troubles behind a mask.
Stubborn, reckless and a bit of a troublemaker. While she’s the type of person who would rather not involve herself with others that aren’t worth her time, there’s only so much she could tolerate. When pushed to the limit of her patience, then one can be sure that she’ll fight back with either her spells or her fists, showing her ill-tempered side. She is willing to bend or break the rules, but does know the boundaries that she shouldn’t cross unless driven into a corner. While smart, her laid back personality sometimes makes her look like a slacker.
Raizel has her own dark obsession, seen with how she pushes herself too much which could lead to her sleepless nights and exhaustion, wanting to be better than what she is now, improve her own skills and to become stronger when faced with a challenge that she must overcome.
Backstory
Born within the old Pureblood family of Voltrouz, known for being purists in the past. All of those changed when Raizel’s grandfather, Vancolven, took the position of family head, believing in the equality within the wizarding world and blood status is not everything. Most of the family followed his belief despite the struggle at first which turned out well in the end, others simply refused to embrace it, still believing the superiority they have among those who don't have a pureblood lineage.
Raizel's grandmother, Cordelia, was one of the few that remained in the past and had caused tension within her family. She insisted on their pure bloodline which resulted in her arranging the marriage of her son, Ravi. With their own reputation as a family of Aurors and Hit-Wizards, it wasn't that hard to find a Pureblood family wanting to make familial connections to continue their own pure bloodline. There were protests of course, Ravi specifically, having someone whom he wanted to be with already. The woman was, however, a muggleborn that Cordelia doesn't approve of. It was a lost battle for Ravi and in the end, he ended up marrying Abigail, a fellow pureblood who wasn't that much of a stranger to him. Abigail had feelings for Ravi but had completely given up on it knowing his relationship with Michelle, the muggleborn that Ravi loves but fate had other plans. Their relationship, while not bad, wasn't good as well. Abigail was not a cruel woman. In fact, when Raizel was born, she had showered her love despite knowing how unrequited her love for Ravi is. While both of them have mutual respect for each other, she knows his heart belongs to someone else and that she had no chance of claiming it as hers.
Raizel grew up within the family manor, learning about their family traditions and getting basic education until she was ready for school as well as hearing the stories of the successes of their family members and being exposed to magic at a young age. While warned of the danger and the difficulty should she take the same path much like everyone else, she still made it her dream to do so. She grew up aware of the relationship between her parents despite their efforts in trying to be a happy family together. Still, both parents showed her love and affection as much as possible and stayed together for her.
When the Tragedy Strike
What changed all of that was a tragedy that one wasn't expecting to happen when Raizel was about to turn 9 years old.
It started with a family vacation, Vancolven being the one who suggested it at first to Ravi who had been busy with his work as an Auror for the past few months, having little time to spend with his family. The old man was supposed to be the one going on a short retreat but something came up and had to cancel his plans. Another reason was that he knew how distant he was with his wife and figured that he might as well try to get closer to her for their daughter's sake. Ravi agreed, simply because he does want what's best for Raizel.
The plan was to have fun and deepen their connection as they stay in their vacation villa. Getting caught up in a revenge plot and betrayal against Vancolven and his family wasn't a part of it. Maverick, brother of the said family head, wanted the position himself to restore the family’s glory. With how Vancolven changed their views when it came to blood status, the family had been labeled as blood traitors which Maverick found as a dishonorable title. He had been waiting for a chance to execute his plans of murder. With Vancolven gone, there is a chance that the title would fall on him and he could bring back honor to this family as long as he manages to get people on his side. As a skilled Hit-Wizard however, Maverick knew how hard it would be to get rid of Vancolven. This then resulted in him trying an alternative and that is using his family against him.
He thought it would be that easy. Despite being an Auror for just a couple of months, Ravi had already shown his magical capabilities and skills and had already garnered him respect in his workplace. Aside from that, Abigail was a former Auror herself who had just dedicated his time in raising their daughter. Maverick wasn't aware of those as he never bothered in trying to get to know anyone from the side of his brother aside from Cordelia who shared the same view as him. After hearing about the family vacation, Maverick went on to hire a small group of Dark Wizards who were a part of Vancolven's circle of enemies thanks to his job, assuming a fake identity as a cover up.
The assault happened when it was just about to get dark, thinking that it was an easy job and that they’ll finally have their revenge on the one who had humiliated them in the past. Just when Ravi and his family were on their way back from a side trip to a small magical village nearby, taking a more scenic route to enjoy the night, the Dark Wizards launched their attack which led into a fight. Despite the numbers against them, both Ravi and Abigail had managed to take most of them down thanks to their skill and even though this would've been a scary experience for an 8 years old, fear was completely replaced by admiration with how she saw her parents take care of the attackers. This had strengthened her resolve into following their paths in the future. What they didn't know, however, was that one of them had managed to escape.
After reporting this to the authorities, back up came to pick up the apprehended dark wizards. Others went on to do a quick sweep of the area only to be met by their demise when a savage creature started attacking them within the shadows of the nearby woods. They had no idea what they were up against so they had to be careful. Abigail and Raizel were instructed to get back to the village as it was safer there and closer while Ravi and the remaining Aurors went to check what was going on. With danger still looming over them, Abigail made sure to hurry back, not wanting to put their child in danger any further. Misfortune strikes however for the beast had found them before the Aurors had found it. There stood a beast, a wolf to be precise. Way larger than normal with a shorter snout but that's not all, the blood surrounding its jaws indicates that it just killed something or someone, enough to say this creature is nothing but a killing machine.
“Run!” The woman yelled before firing a red sparks charm in hopes of calling for back up before this creature kills the both of them. She tried everything she could to keep it busy whilst avoiding its attack for just a single wound from it would curse you for life. Minutes felt like hours and the creature was faster than she thought it would be. The place was dark, only lit up by a couple of lanterns and the full moon above. Raizel saw the fight unfold before her as she hid behind a tree, and saw how her mother tried to fend it off. She should've run towards the village that time instead of standing there. That way, she wouldn't have seen how this creature drew blood from the woman that it was fighting, she wouldn't have yelled out to her, she wouldn't have gotten the creature's attention…
Perhaps… her mother would've survived without her there being protected.
The last thing she remembers that time was this creature going for her, the voice of her mother’s shouting muffled by the sound of her own heart beating so loudly as she tried to muster the courage to run away. But fear had frozen her in place for a few seconds before she could turn around to run and then everything went black. When she woke up, she felt nothing but the pain from some parts of her body although it was mild thanks to whatever painkiller or healing they had given her. On her left arm, right shoulder and then on her back. For someone so young, one would expect for her to meet the same fate as those who had been attacked by the werewolf. What saved her was her mother who did her best to keep her alive until help arrived but at the cost of her own. The curse doesn't just remind her of that tragedy but also the mistakes she had made, filled her mind with ‘what ifs’.
It wasn’t just her that had been affected by her death. Turns out the werewolf was one of the Dark Wizards that attacked them and managed to slip away, abandoning his comrades to save himself only to be met by Karma when his lycanthropy curse started kicking in. Having forgotten to take the last dose of his wolfsbane potion due to the excitement from the assignment where their revenge would’ve been complete. In a way, they had, leaving a family scarred for life.
First Instance of Accidental Magic
It wasn't grand, it was expected, yet her parents acted as if it was the best thing in the world when Raizel had her first instance of accidental magic. She was around 5 years old when it happened and during the birthday party of one of her cousins. She was playing around with them, running without a care in the world along with a bunch of kids from different magical families regardless of their blood status. She saw one kid trying to bully another, saying things that clearly upsets them. One thing that she had learned from her parents was to be helpful and that's what she did. Despite being younger and these kids were a few years older, she still tried telling them off in which they all just laughed at. That made her mad which then resulted in one of the bullies’ sleeves to suddenly catch fire. While no one was badly hurt, they were taken by surprise by it and an adult was already on their way to see what was going on when they heard sudden screams. In the end, it turned out well.
