Mr. Damon-Cowles & Ms. Soulier,
We regret to inform you that your son, Kasimir, has been expelled from Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. After investigating several instances of interpersonal conflict, claims of bullying, physical altercations, claims of vandalism, among other disruptive and dangerous behaviors, and following several lengthy suspensions, it is the opinion of the staff that Kasimir would benefit from a different learning environment. The staff suggests a transfer may be in order, whether to a separate school or to home study. We wish you and Kasimir the best of luck in his educational endeavors.
Best regards,

Fabian Toussaint-Fleischer
Headmaster, Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry BEAUXBATONS
Mme. Soulier,
As Headmaster of Beauxbatons Academy of Magic, for over four decades might I remind you Mme. Soulier, it is with the most relief I have perhaps ever experienced that I inform you of your son Kasimir's expulsion from my school. In all my years I have seen no student so unruly, undisciplined, or unteachable. I have seen more magical talent and reasonable acuity in a goldfish than I have in Kasimir during his four months here. In fact, I am sure we would have wasted far less time, resources, and detentions in teaching such a creature than in attempting to enlighten the boy in question. Please refer to previous correspondence for your son's lengthy list of transgressions and seek alternate schooling as his expulsion is effective immediately.
Good day,

Pascal Panais
Headmaster, Beauxbatons Academy of Magic
NOTES: Mr. Damon-Cowles has repeatedly shown signs of anger management issues, difficulty taking direction, lack of respect for peers and teachers, and violent tendencies. Continue to monitor.

en dehors | physical appearance
A dancer's physique. Long limbed with hard lines and lean muscle. There is a certain sharpness to him, from his cutting hazel eyes to his angular facial structure to the scathing remarks that always seem to lie just behind too-white teeth, too-fangish canines. Kasimir stands at just over 5'10" (179 cm) with fashionably unkempt hair somewhere on the dirty blond spectrum. The corners of his almond-shaped eyes are rounded, giving him a look of false innocence. His smiles hardly ever reach his eyes, betraying the disingenuous nature of his politeness.
Kasimir is, in a word, miserable. For others to be around, to interact with, to talk to, but even in the soul which he allegedly possesses, Kasimir is a truly miserable person. On first look, he would be a model Dragna. Outwardly assured, independent, fiery and passionate, filled with unbased confidence. Self-centered, egotistic, vain, impulsive, and cocky, a picture of rebellion. He is those things, let it not be mistaken, but the superiority complex of an underloved teenaged boy guards an empty space where depth of character should be found. He defends his superficiality by hiding himself under layers of wretchedness, isolating despite his need for companionship so that no one discovers Hell Incarnate is just a little boy who's terrified of his own lack of substance, whose emptiness haunts him like a bad dream.
arriére | background
b
The papers were right when they called then-Ensign Spencer Damon-Cowles lucky to have snagged the radiant Cassandre Sabine Soulier from the runway. The sharp, ambitious young officer who had a striking career ahead of him and a gorgeous model with a penchant for the arts and pockets deep enough for weighty donations to whatever institutions she desired to fund had celebrity potential, not to mention the genetics for the children the public couldn't decide whether or not they'd have.
.
Spencer and Cassandre did have children, six of them. Six sons to shock the media like their parents had. Six sons to watch as they grew up, six futures to ponder. The fourth of these sons was Kasimir Alaric Damon-Cowles.
b
As with most large families, there is a distinct divide splitting the offspring into two eras. With some, the arrival of a fourth or fifth signals an era of parentification of the elder siblings. With others, it signals a new, more lenient parenting style for the younger members. For the Damon-Cowles, Kasimir's birth signalled the end of perfection and the beginning of scandal.
Now Captain Damon-Cowles, Spencer saw a difference in Kasimir. Unlike his brothers before him, he did not take to playing war, nor was he thrilled with tales of the high seas and heroes of old, nor even interested in the little brass spyglass he received his fifth Christmas for longer than a day. Granted, his brothers were a great deal older than him, with an age gap of eight years between the eldest, Leopold, and Kasimir, so differences were to be expected. But it was not only his apathy towards all that interested his father and brothers that made Kasimir strange in comparison to them. It was his love for his mother's passion, the arts. He could not sit still for a single lesson of reading, but for the Flames of Paris? Total attention, completely entranced. It was, in fact, the Flames of Paris that cemented Kasimir's dream to become a ballet dancer and drove his stubborn fight to realize it. Cassandre supported her son with all she had to offer, which was a great deal. Spencer vehemently opposed it, calling it a "useless passion" and a "hobby" that shouldn't get in the way of pursuing more important things like patriotism, justice, leadership. He cited the elder three with dreams of becoming commanders, lawyers, or doctors, claiming Cassandre was setting Kasimir up for failure. The model proceeded to enroll Kasimir into the most prestigious ballet school in New York. This was not the beginning of the great barrier that would continue to build between Spencer and Cassandre, but it was a significant brick in the wall.
b
Kasimir's first showing of magical talent was another wedge between the couple, forcing Cassandre to reveal that she was a witch, and not only that but not even fully human. Yes, part of her unnatural beauty was due to her own mother being a Veela. Spencer hardly resisted pushing for a divorce right then and there. If there was a world where magic existed, he wanted no part of it. They still put on a good show for the media, but at home the animosity was felt by all.
b
While the elder three continued in their prestigious no-maj educations within the public eye, Kasimir was said to be tutored at home. He was pulled from his ballet academy and regular schooling, much to his dismay, a year before he was scheduled to leave for Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in order to create a more believable story. Cassandre used this year to teach him all she thought she would never have to. Kasimir used this year to stew in discontent, disappointment, and despair. His dream, already stifled by Spencer, was being thrown out by the very person that helped him fight for it. Hatred began to brew.
b
Kasimir did everything he could to get out of Ilvermorny. Everything he could possibly think of. He was a bully, an ass to teachers and students alike, refused to take exams or participate in anything involving magic, stole answer keys and personal belongings, vandalized, lied, fought. His magic mixed with anger and outbursts occurred, dangerous and unpredictable. The school, unfortunately, dealt with him very gracefully until his third year when they could no longer rationalize any punishment other than expulsion.
b
This was the final straw for Spencer. The divorce was messy, hateful, and a giant story for no-maj and magical media alike. Spencer wanted nothing to do with Cassandre and her world, so that meant when she left, so did Kasimir and his two younger brothers, also wix. They moved to France, to a quiet town on the Riviera called Éze. Kasimir should have known what was to come, but he let himself hope he was rid of magic. He was not.
b
Beauxbatons Academy of Magic tolerated him for four months exactly before sending Cassandre the expulsion letter on January first, 2025.
b
His brother Augustin was still in good standing with the school, and the youngest Thaddeus was set to start there in the fall. And Cassandre did not have to funds to relocate the four again after all that went into the divorce and repatriation. The woman would have been at a total loss if not for her good friend Alizé de Lac, now Alizé Pryce, who just so happened to be in Wales, very near to a magical school known as Penwick School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
b
Kasimir was sent across the channel to live with his godmother's family in Aberporth, Wales at the beginning of summer. The divorce was Cassandre's exit from the non-maj public eye, and the former model ensured the Pryce family would not have to suffer scrutiny from those searching for scraps while Kasimir was in their care. For two months the boy acclimated to the new household, new country, and the extremely confusing dynamics between teenage girls since he now lived with three of them.
b
On September first, he went up on the zephyr with Enid and Siân for his first year at Penwick, determined to burn through the patience and sanity of every student and staff as he had before.
changement | first instance of magic
His first instance of magic was not peculiar as far as first instances go, but it was odd for a boy with Kasimir's temperament to have such a mild entrance to the world of magic. Indeed, the day was perfect and clear and the seven year old boy was being readied to go to dinner with his family when he realized he had forgotten to comb his hair. As soon as the realization hit, he found his comb floating into his hand as if it were the most natural thing in the world. Needless to say, the rest of the evening was less than calm, since his entire family had witnessed the event and his father had several questions. They ended up late to dinner, and Kasimir wished he could ignore the tension as easily as his younger, more naive brothers, especially knowing that he was the cause.
