Physique: At first glance, Ilse is a slender girl slightly taller than average at 163 cm. She has a pretty visage, with her blue eyes the most prominent. Her lips are forever tilting upwards in a faint smile. Ilse has straight teeth like her mother's. She has wavy blond hair thatreaches her shoulders. She likes to keep her hair tied up to keep it out of her face.
Personality:
Ilse is reserved and she keeps to herself. She does not seem out trouble or intent on rule breaking. An old fashioned soul, she prefers to spend her afternoons reading or going for a long walk. She is protective of her younger brother and wants him near her all the time to keep an eye on him. She does not trust easily, nor does she like people easily. If one could find themselves in the right circle of relations she keeps herself to, they would find her sense of morbid humor interesting. For all the untrusting, she does not know how to refuse. Ilse finds it hard to say no to people, even if she doesn't want to. While she's good at standing up for her brother, she isn't as good as for defending her rights. But Ilse is also a loyal girl. If you were proven worthy to her, she would be loyal and honest to you without a doubt, unless, that is, you do something to prove otherwise.
Backstory:
Ilse Von Aalsburg was born on the 10th of May, 2010 to Theadora and Sander Von Aalsburg in the Netherlands. Her parents were 27 at the time of her birth, and she was their eldest daughter. Her father was a rich merchant and his marriage was arranged. Even so, he loved Theadora until she died from a sudden heart attack in 2012. Ilse was 2, and she had already lost her mother. Sander, shocked and full of grief, had difficulty being himself in the next few years, hardly having time to care for his daughter with his wife's eyes. Thus, the little girl was thrust into the care of a nanny and govener, and her father buried himself in work. His father met Anneliese Hendricks, a merchants daughter, in 2014, and they quickly married a year later. Anneliese treated Ilse like her own daughter, doting over her tremendously, nourishing her with the love and care that was absent for two years. She was too young to remember her birth mother, so Anneliese was the one and only mother in her eyes. Even after the birth of her stepmother's own son, a boy named Hugo, when Ilse was 5, in 2015, the love for Ilse never ceased. She had two children that were her own, Ilse and Hugo, and nothing would change that.
But life was unrelenting to some, and on August 2nd, 2017, a fire in their house in Friesland claimed the lives of both Sander and Anneliese. On that fateful day, a single spark from a fireplace lit the night up. Hugo was three, and was sleeping with his parents that night. When his father woke and realized what was happening, he threw the boy to his mother and told them to escape first, while he got Ilse. He went to Ilse's room, and never came out. Half the roof collapsed as he lifted the girl out of her bed. He took the weight, and died. When Anneliese realized he wasn't coming out, she ran in to find Ilse. Anneliese, dying from lack of oxygen in the last few meters to safety, told the child to run. Ilse did, just as the house caved in. A total on three people died that day, their parents and a maid. Ilse and Hugo were sent to live with their uncle, Abraham Aalsburg, in Vienna, Austria, where he owned a few acres of land and a merchants business.
Abraham loved his brother's children, yet his wife did not. Sabine did not have any interest in two more children, her two already making her annoyed, and she discouraged Abraham every chance she got. When Abraham was around, she acknowledged the two, and when he wasn't, they were non-existent. Ilse quickly learnt to protect herself and her brother, and to keep on Sabine's good books, had she any. The only person apart from their uncle and cousins, who enjoyed her company, was Cook, a short, plump woman who always had a sweet in her pocket. While Sabine disliked the two, she did not like not teaching them. She believed all children, even if they were Satan's own, had a right for knowledge. Ilse and Paula, her cousin of the same age, shared a tutor. The only other cousin was Josef, but he was always years older, and had a school to attend. Hugo was taught by Sabine herself. She grew to like the little boy more that Ilse. Ilse was a quick learner, and had a deep understanding in mathematics, alchemy and other various subjects. She could speak Dutch, French, English and German. They all attended Beautbatons. However, in 2025, Abraham had an offer and he decided to move the family to Britain. Wales, specifically. The Dutch girl would have to attend a school in a language she was familiar, yet also unfamiliar in.
First Instance of Magic:
A magical household, that was what the family was. They were purebloods, yet lived amongst muggles. Ilse was 9 and her tutor had suggested a lesson outside in the cool spring day. They were learning the names of birds, when a baby bird fell from a tree. It was high, and Paula really wanted to help. But she was scared, so Ilse decided to climb the tree. She climbed up and placed the baby back. But when she was coming down, she slipped and she was falling headfirst. Just as she was going to hit the ground, she was stopped, floated midair and turned around by an invisible force. Then she fell down hard. It had prevented her dying.

Hi, @Ilse Van Aalsburg! Welcome to Penwick.ink!
I’ve reviewed your application, and there are just a couple things you need to edit before I can go ahead and approve it.
Basic Information
You include most of the information elsewhere in your application (yay!), but we still need a section at the top of your application for your basic information, which is:
Date of birth
Nationality
Residence (town and country)
Blood status
Year
Origin
Aptitudes
The most important thing we are missing are your Origin and Aptitudes. You can learn more about about those HERE and HERE respectively.
If you have any questions whatsoever, please do not hesitate to contact me! I’d love to help in any way possible, especially because Origins and Aptitudes can be a little confusing sometimes.
Once you’ve made these changes, you can change your title to have [Ready for review] again, and I’ll take another look at it!
Hope to approve you soon!
