Personality Description
Monica is a stubborn soul. She doesn't try to get herself in trouble but trouble has a way of finding her. She tackles problems head on, and often acts without thinking. She is very goal driven and will complete any task before her no matter the challenge. Some might think she is hard to get along with or talk to, but once you get through the tuff outer layer of who Monica shows on the outside, you will find a sweat girl looking for love and acceptance, and wanting to make everyone feel loved for who they are. Though she is a pureblood she is unaware of it at the moment, she is searching for the truth about her biological family and will discover she was born of a noble bloodline. Due to this she is not boastful or prideful about her blood status. As far as she is aware she was raised by muggles and has all the respect in the world of people regardless of their blood status.
Backstory
Growing up in Cambridge, just outside of the city, life was good, simple. Monica was raised in a family of 6, Mom (Alison) and Dad (Jeffery) offered a very comfortable home, and life for their 4 children, (Victoria 19, Michael 14, David 13 and their youngest Monica 12.)
Their family was just like any other, nothing too special. Mother owned a pastry shop, and was well known for her baked goods, across England. Father was a professor at the Regional Collage, which meant he held a very high standard for all of his children, both in behavioural sense, and Academic. Monica, though she was a smart kid, and well behaved, couldn't help but feel different from her family. Many of her interests, or just the way she processed life felt off. She found it hard connecting with her mother, and for the most part was scared to disappoint her father. No matter how hard she tried, she seemed to just get things wrong, or mess things up.
Her older sister was the closest to her in her family, offering well needed support and understanding. Monica felt seen by Victoria, and loved for her quirks, but with her parents, she felt more like a disappointment. As for her brothers, Monica never really saw eye to eye with them. They mostly hung out together, the odd time including Monica, but more often than not, were annoying older brothers.
When the time came for the Hogwarts letter's arrival, it shocked Monica, and her family to learn about the wizarding world. For some odd reason her parents were even more blown away, a tear coming to her father's eyes. Monica often dwelled on this, why was it so upsetting for them to learn any of this? Why didn't they know about this? The wizard explained a lot about squibs, and how that is normally how wizards are born in muggle homes, but nothing seemed to register in either of her parents. Victoria, as usual, was the only supportive one out of the whole family. She said it was such a great opportunity for Monica, she would learn so much and be able to do all sorts of abilities just like in the fairytales father would share when they were kids.
Reluctantly she prepared her self for Hogwarts, unsure of what it would have in store for her.
Her Story:
Monica receives a letter one day from her sister. The contents of the letter DESTROY her. She learns that she was adopted, and was lied to her whole life... despite the fact she always felt estranged from her family.
Through this information, Monica confronts her parents about the ordeal, and indeed the information was true. They didn't know much about Monica's Biological mother, but they did have some family heirlooms that was left with Monica as a baby. The adoptions was rather closed, which wasn't abnormal. Most adoptions were taken about this way, where biological parents or adoptive parents think it best to keep the child separate or secret from a life that was no longer theirs. It was thought to protect the child, and help them feel more accepted within their adopted family. From the outside looking in, one might think Monica was the favoured child with how the Evan's parents treated her. Always caring above for her needs, but reality they were simply trying to fill a void that was clearly making itself known in Monica's heart.
With a simple sigil to go off of, Monica began to wear it proudly all the time. Within the muggle world she might not ever get answers, but within the wizarding world, this symbol might be well known! The sigil in quest resembled that of a black fox. Larger than a typical fox may be, the snout still long and the tale mimicking very closely to a traditional fox, however some differences was the ears and body build looked closer to a wolf, or some sort of great beast with muscles and stature making it seem more powerful than your typical fox. The animal was sealed away within rose thorns with small shimmering amethyst gems dotting the eyes and tip of the piece. It was quite a marvellous work of craftsmanship, and though not much was known about the sigil, it seemed rather important, and from a very noble family.
During the following year at Hogwarts, Monica never really found much answers within her fellow students. Most people had never seen such a creature before, and the sigil seemed it was crafted by an unknown hand, no other work seemed to fit the style of the cuts and curves. Growing desperate Monica found herself more and more in the library, searching for old noble names, and dreading to find any cursed wizards or witches that bored the same sigil, but all her searching left to nothing.
Until one fateful day.
Monica was begin to loose hope in learning about who she was and where she came from, but during one of the events, when neighbouring schools came and visited Hogwarts, Monica found something that peaked her interest. there was a student, in the last year of school it looked like, and she bore a family sigil just under her cloak that resembled similarities to the one Monica had. It was the same beast, same gems and same thorns. This student came from a lesser known magical school Penwick. Of course before now, Monica never thought to investigate outside of Hogwarts, but as luck would have it, her ancestry may come from another magical school! Perhaps there could be some answers for the Slytherin to find... but how?
She began to write to her sister, the rock that had been keeping Monica's emotions in check, and the only one in Monica's family she felt she could trust. It was a long shot but Monica had to find out more! she had to learn about who she was, who was her mother? And why did she give Monica up?
It was through this Monica had gotten herself transferred from Hogwarts to Penwick, she just had to learn who she was.
First Instance of Accidental Magic
Monica was 6 years old when her magic first came about. Her sister(Victoria) was babysitting Monica and her brothers. Monica's two brothers(Michael and David) were bothering her and refusing to leave her alone while her sister was making lunch. It came to a point where her two brothers took Mr. Froggo, Monica's prized stuffed frog. Monica became very angry, and wanted nothing more than her frog back. She was so angry that she wished her two brothers would turn into frogs and hop away. "Ribbit". Wait, was that from her brother? It was. Her two brothers were unable to speak, the only thing escaping their mouths was a long, low frog croak. Monica laughed and laughed, finding the whole thing hilarious. In the panic and confusion, her brothers dropped the frog, and when Monica got it back, their voices returned to normal. Her siblings were concerned and confused as to what exactly happened, but after her sister told her parents, they dismissed it as the kids just playing around. Her dad, however, began paying attention to his surroundings when his daughter is upset or angry.
