Welcome to Penwick!

We’re so glad you’ve joined us as an alpha tester. Penwick is a new literary roleplay community founded on creativity and community, and you’re here right at the start.

As alpha testers, you’re stepping into the world early, before the proverbial paint has even dried (and to continue the imagery, while we're still building some of the walls, too). What that means for you is...

• You’ll get the first look at our features, lore, and systems.
• A lot of things are missing! Spell systems, sports, abilities, new origins, all these things and more are still being developed, and we'd love your feedback as we work on them.
• You’ll be able to try things out and help us see what works (and what doesn’t). Your feedback is so important in this stage!
• Committing at least a bit to helping us build this site. We've selected Alpha testers from people we know to not only be fun people, but also writers who have an eye for lore, systems, and are full of ideas.

If you're not sure what to do now, here are a few things to do:

• Begin or submit your character application (that's the very first thing to do!)
• Check out the Penwick school lore. Let us know if there's anything missing that's important to know to write a student here!
• Join our Discord server if you haven't already.
• Once your character is approved, make your first post! There's a sorting ceremony post HERE if you'd like to write your sorting or reaction to Penwick's new headmistress's opening speech.

Penwick.ink runs in real-time, meaning the date in-character is today's real-life date. You can "backdate" (write posts that happened before today's date) as far as you'd like, and "forward date" (write posts that happen in the future, after today's date) up to 1 month ahead.

I think that's it, at least for now. Welcome again, I can't wait to write with y'all!

You can now get your wand at Ollivanders in Diagon Alley!

Go here and click on the "Ollivander's" subforum to begin the process of obtaining your wand: viewforum.php?f=111

1. To stay true to lore, Ollivander will only provide wands with unicorn hair, dragon heartstring, or phoenix feather cores. In the future an additional shop will open in Brynwell which offers its own quiz and a much more extensive variety of wand cores.
2. Your answers in the quiz will guide the result but not wholly determine it.
3. Some texts vary subtly per user, but currently the number of variations is fairly low. This will be expanded in the future.
4. Currently it is free to get your wand, in the future this will cost money.
5. Once you've got your wand, you're stuck with it, unless you bribe me or June to reset it for you 😛
6. I'm working on creating unique images for wands but as you can imagine, creating consistent images for 33 wand woods with variations for each wand wood takes a bunch of time, even with AI image generation.
