Rowan produces wands that are more protective than any other, and in my experience, are generally most happily placed with the pure-hearted. Rowan wands are noted for their disarming effect upon witches and wizards who practise the Dark Arts, and are generally considered more effective in defensive spells than in any other. It is commonly stated that no Dark witch or wizard has ever owned a rowan wand, and I cannot recall a single instance where one has ever chosen a servant of the Dark Arts.
