Fir (Common)
Fir is known as 'the survivor's wand,' a name given by Gerbold Octavius Ollivander, who sold it to three wizards who subsequently passed through mortal peril unscathed. Coming from the most resilient of trees, fir produces wands that demand staying power and strength of purpose in their true owners, and they are poor tools in the hands of the changeable and indecisive. Fir wands are particularly suited to Transfiguration, and favour owners of focused, strong-minded and occasionally intimidating demeanour.
Approximately 2.00% of witches and wizards have this type of wand wood.
